Tax Consultant
Liz Zitzow, Managing Director for British American Tax, is an Enrolled Agent with the US Internal Revenue Service with over 24 years of US tax experience.
She started practicing taxation in 1984 at H&R Block in their Boston district, moving on to TaxMan in Cambridge MA in 1987. At TaxMan, she held the record for number one in sales for four years in a row. This resulted in a promotion to Senior Tax Consultant, reviewing 1000's of returns from six different offices for accuracy every year, explaining complex tax issues to tax preparers, teaching courses, reviewing software, managing the electronic filing programme, representing TaxMan's clients at audits, arranging waivers of penalties for TaxMan clients, and preparing the few returns that came in to the company that no one else could prepare.
In 1998 she moved to England and worked for US Tax and Financial Services, a London based tax practice, and took on the role of Senior US Tax Accountant. Here she created management control systems to help the company and it's clients meet every deadline, and learned international taxation.
In 2004, Liz started her own practice specializing in US tax for corporations, partnerships, trusts, and individuals doing business on both side of the ocean.
Liz is the Secretary for the Federation of Small Business's London Policy Unit, helping to keep the needs and interests of small businesses before Whitehall and the Mayor. She also serves as the Secretary for the Northeast London Branch of the FSB and the Treasurer of the Leytonstone Business Forum. She is a member of the European-American Tax Institute, the National Association of Enrolled Agents, and the National Association of Tax Professionals.
